Linfield and UMass-Boston just finished up with Linfield picking up a 12-0 shutout win. The Beacons broke up a no-no in the bottom of the 7th. Linfield will play Cortland (who won in a 9-8 come-from-behind thriller in the bottom of the 9th) tomorrow, while UMass-Boston will face Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the first elimination game of the series.
First pitch for our game was just announced as 5:15, so we're 45 minutes behind schedule.

The Blue Jays are the home team today and are sporting their all white unis with the white and blue helmets.
The Lawrence University Provost, David Burrows, threw out the ceremonial first pitch to senior catch John Swarr to start the game. Lawrence University, located here in Appleton, is the host of the College World Series.
The anthem is in the books and the coaches are at the plate with the umpires as we're about ready to get underway here. Alex Eliopoulos is on the mound for Hopkins.

And we're underway. End of the 1st inning, Alex works his way out of a jam with runners at the corners, striking out Jason Lash to end the inning. Right fielder Sam Wernick will lead off for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the 1st. End of the 1st inning, as Brian Youchak gets thrown out at 2nd.

Middle of 2, the Student Prince's led off with a walk by Alex Monroe, but the next three batters went down 1-2-3 on put outs at first. Dave Kahn to lead off for the Blue Jays. Jesse Sikorski gets on for the Blue Jays but gets stranded. End of 2, still tied 0-0.

End of 3. Heidelberg gets two men up but can't score, Hopkins does the same in its half of the inning.

End of 4. Both teams strand runners again. Still scoreless heading into the 5th.

End of 5. Both teams go down 1-2-3 and we are still scoreless here.

End of 6. Heidelberg strikes first, scoring a pair of runs in the top half of the inning. Hopkins goes down 1-2-3 in its half. End of 6, HU-2, JHU-0.

End of 7. Hop holds Heidelberg scoreless in the top half of the inning. In the bottom half, the Blue Jays get two men on and the 'Berg goes to the bull pen, bringing in Andy Lowe. Lee Bolyard hits into an inning-ending double play. HU-2, JHU-0.

End of 8. After holding the 'Berg scoreless in the top of the 8th, Hopkins gets two runs back in the bottom half to tie the game up at 2-2. Wernick scores on a single down the right field line by Chris Huisman. Huisman then comes around on a double by Youchak. JHU-2, HU-2.

Game. Heidelberg gets the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th to take a 3-2 lead. Hopkins goes down 1-2-3 in the bottom half.

Hopkins drops into the loser's bracket and will now face the loser of the Illinois Wesleyan-Shenandoah game tomorrow at 1:15 pm Central Time.
As head coach Bob Babb said in the post-game press conference, in a double elimination tournament, you get a "get out of jail free card". Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, we've used ours already.
